0 ~ Destination Egypt……. March, 2019

Hello Everyone,

Tomorrow afternoon, March 19th, Carol and I are heading off on another travel adventure, this time Egypt.  You may have already read Carol’s first blog entry about how she planned our trip.  We had intended to visit Egypt many years ago, but one thing or another stood in the way.  Finally, we got it together for this spring.

Since “retired folks” like us have a little more flexibility with our time, we decided to stop in Rome for a few days on the way over, to see if the “eternal city” has changed any since our last visit, a few years ago.  It also helps with the initial jet-lag, so we can hit the ground running when we get to Cairo.

On the way back we’re stopping in London for a few days, where we haven’t set foot in a long, long time.  It will be fun to renew our relationship with London, the first place we ever traveled abroad.  We’re scheduled to arrive there a few days after “Brexit” is supposed to cause the self-inflicted collapse of the British economy.  This could be a bit more adventure than we were expecting!  Fingers crossed.

While in Egypt, two weeks, we’ll visit Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.  The logistics of getting to Alexandria on this trip were a bit more than we could handle, so we’ll have to leave that city for another time.  As it happens, my sister, Bea and her husband, Warren are traveling there on a tour at the same time as us, overlapping a couple of days in Cairo at the end of their trip.  We expect to connect up with them along the way.

So, stay tuned over the next couple of weeks, Internet gods willing, for our impressions of “the cradle of civilization” as it appears now.  Carol has already posted her first blog entry and, should you care to take a look, I’ve dropped a map into our photo gallery showing the planned route of our trip.
