0 ~ On The Road Again…….. to Dubai and Myanmar

Hello Everyone,

After a year of “Travelog Silence”, while we took some relatives to Italy and traveled around a bit in the good old US of A, we’re back on the road again to more exotic international destinations.

This time we head first to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on a 14 hour direct flight from Seattle with Emirates Airline.  We’re testing out the famous Emirates Air hospitality on this long flight.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  Among other things, in Dubai we hope to “travel” to the top of the famous Burj Khalifa building, which, at more than a half mile high, is the tallest in the world by far.  It beats the next highest contender by more than 700 feet (70 stories).  Since Carol will be researching a story for Virtuoso Magazine here, we, of course, will be “forced” to accept their 5 star hospitality.  Hey, as someone once said, “somebody has to do it.”  😉

After a week in Dubai, we’ll fly over to Myanmar (right next to Thailand and formerly called Burma) for a long postponed trip through this exotic third world country.  We’ll be stopping at Yangon, Mandalay, Pagan, Nyaung Shwe and Lake Inle.  Since Myanmar was isolated from the rest of the world for such a long time, there should be plenty of interesting cultural oddities to report on.

If the gods of the Internet cooperate we will be posting pictures and blogging along the way.  Photos will be in the column on the right. Just click the first one to open the lightbox display.
